Joe's Marlin .444

Postby 44man » 08 Aug 2017, 07:16

The 1 in 38" twist, nasty thing to work. Took us 6 months and hundreds of loads but we are close now.
265 gr RD bullet and I turned Joe on to 3031. Less recoil then 4198 too.
Big problem with the scope and he was hitting low, ran out of "UP." We came up and I shimmed the base so it took many shots to be on paper at 100 even bore sighting it.
He shot a good group. I don't know if it will continue but he is finally good for deer after we raised the setting. The group was still low.

I will post the load, think it was 45 gr of 3031, CCI LR primer, 50-50 wax and Alox. We need to chronograph it.

Kind of surprising to get anything but I need to check his magazine tube, many times he gets two shots close and the third out---Heat?

Well, it didn't hold up as expected. Just never know where the shots will go.
